Art in the Age of AI

"Art in the Age of AI" is a panel discussion and audience Q&A between professors Virginie Duzer, Mark Allen, and Dustin Stokes exploring timely questions about creativity, aesthetic experience, perception, and ethics in relation to emerging AI technologies. Possible topics include the importance of context in understanding artworks, creativity and agency, and the ethical implications of AI-generated media. Mark Allen is an artist, educator, and curator based in Los Angeles, Professor of Art at Pomona College, and founder/executive director of Machine Project. Virginie Duzer chairs Romance Languages and Literatures at Pomona College and works on art, literature, and visual culture from the nineteenth century. She is currently teaching a course on Proust and AI. Dustin Stokes is a philosopher and cognitive scientist whose research focuses on perception, imagination, creativity, and aesthetic experience. He is the Chair of Metaphysics at Munich University.

The film offers key takeaways about the AIDS activist movement, its conception, and actions. Advocacy In Nonfiction Writing Workshop

The Pomona Student Union will be hosting Professor Sarah Schulman for a small writer's workshop on the subject of how to incorporate advocacy and political argumentation into written work. Through this event, students will be able to ask questions directly to Professor Schulman, a writer who has vast experience engaging with social movements and academic work. This event will be held in the Mason Fireside Lounge from 6:00-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 29th. Catered dinner will be provided. THE FANTASY AND NECESSITY OF SOLIDARITY BOOK TALK

Come join us for a conversation with Northwestern Professor of English Sarah Schulman. Professor Schulman will be giving a talk on her recently released book: "The Fantasy and Necessity of Solidarity" which focuses on the challenges associated with social movement building. Professor Schulman, a novelist, playwright, and AIDS historian, offers consistent insight into the makings of advocacy. PSU collaborated for with Claremont SJP for a live Q&A with Emad Burnat, the director of Five Broken Cameras. On Wednesday Oct. 29, following the screening of his documentary, Burnat joined us on Zoom to speak about his experiences and answer any questions we had about the award-winning and Oscar- nominated film that is a deeply personal first-hand account of life and nonviolent resistance in Bil'in, a village in the occupied West Bank.
